This board is a Danny Keogh 1963 international custom model shaped by Midget Farrely. The decal was black-diamond scripted with a Makaha trophy image, a reference to Midget Farrely winning the surfing title in 1963 at Makaha. The board arrived in poor condition, the owner not having much hope for it. I peeled the glass off the deck and repaired the foam before carefully exposing the timber stringer. I re-laminated over the stringer, before filler coating and sanding the board. After some research on the internet, I found a replacement for the decal. After applying the new decal I added a cedar tail block and put 30 rovings into each side of the old d-fin. Finally I glassed, filler coated and sanded the board, painting it green with yellow stripes. The owner was wrapt and couldn’t believe that it was the same board that he had dropped off. “A big thanks to Rod”, owner Daryl says.
